Hello!
I was very excited to finally make the jump from my aging (yet still trusty) T2i today! I was running the new R6 mk III through some minor paces to make sure that everything was functioning as it should until I get a chance over the next couple of days to go out and test it properly.
All was looking good until I hooked the camera up to the MacBook Pro running Sequoia and the latest version of Lightroom Classic. The software can see the camera but every time I click on the camera in the import sidebar I get an Error 70 on the camera. I've updated the firmware to 1.0.1 from the 1.0.0 with no change whatsoever. I also attempted to import the files into Photos and Photoshop and get the same message. It's almost like it's trying to shoot photos instead of let the computer copy the pictures over. When I import the same RAW files to my iPhone's camera roll I can put them on the computer without issue.
Needless to say.... I'm really confused. Has anybody else run into this?
Solved! Go to Solution.

Alright, so I've been testing this over the last several days. I don't know exactly what resolved the issue, but after updating the firmware to 1.0.1 from 1.0.0, reformatting the card after the update, and making sure that the latest version of Adobe RAW was installed, everything seems to be working as expected.

athensboy,
There is another user on the General Discussion forum who is having problems with the R6III and Lightroom. Maybe you guys should get together and compare notes. Maybe something will come up.

Hello Athensboy I'm the other user having similar RAW photos with the R6III, however I'm not getting those messages on the camera I'm getting them on my Mac instead, I'm using Lightroom cloud though not classic, anyways I was wondering how the photos load in finder? I have a suspicion that since the only issues are with the RAW files, its an issue with the software, I made my post worried it was a hardware issue but seeing you have a similar problem makes me suspect its just because the cameras so new and needs to be properly supported. But yes I have run into the same general problems (with windows too)

Oh hey, thanks for reaching out. I couldn’t find your post so I thought I was having a unique issue.
The photos don’t show up in Finder as the camera doesn’t show as a mountable volume. I was able to transfer the files into Lightroom using my iPhone as a middleman in the process. It was late enough for me last night when I made my post that I had to go to bed so I didn’t stay up until now troubleshooting it. I can take a look at the files through finder here in a little bit after I’ve had round 1 of morning coffee and get back to you.
There was also a Sequoia update last supposedly was queued up for installation last night so I’m going to see if that helped anything.

Thanks!
They found me before I found them.

Okay… so the files themselves show up in Finder. The thumbnails render correctly and I can see them with Quicklook just fine.
They do not open in preview. They’re fine in Lightroom and open in PS 2026 correctly. Interestingly enough, when opening the same file in the new Affinity it is hilariously wrong in color. The best way I can describe it is it’s as if someone pulled a purple sheet of cellophane over it.

YES! That's exactly the issue I've been asking about! crazy wrong colors when fully loaded (specifically purple), fine previews but won't load, hard to import to Lightroom, etc. ok, Im certain this is just new camera software issues as I had those same problems with Mac OS, granted I'm running Tahoe not sequoia but still practically the same issues. I was able to import them into Lightroom but only on windows 11. but yea, anything else turns them purple or won't load it at all

The wild thing is that they DON’T show up discolored in the Adobe apps or quicklook as I imported them off my phone (the built-in photos app in the phone shows grey squares and not the images), only in the new Affinity does it show up in purple. I appear to be able to work with them in Lightroom once they’re there.
I'm hoping that it is software. It was a snow day here so I haven’t been able to contact Canon to see if they have any guidance.

Ummmmm.... So, on a whim, I reformatted the card and it appears to be working.
