New option for faster RAW processing with DPP v 4.19.10

Canon has updated their main software apps on mobile, PC/Mac to work with the new EOS R5 Mark II. I found that the new DPP has a setting to speed up RAW image processing when saving finished files.

Open the settings and find Image Processing 2, select Prioritise speed and then exit and close DPP. Then restart and when you next save an image it will be much faster.

I tested a RAW image from the EOS R6 Mark II

  • Prioritise quality = 32.7 seconds
  • Prioritise speed = 2.9 seconds

I then took the two images and layered them in Photoshop before selecting the top layer as a difference layer. Then I added the steepest curve I could to accentuate the differences as there are very few. For social media and many uses Prioritise Speed will be my choice.
