I am trying to tether my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV to my macOS Monterey version 12.2.1. I want to be able to use Lightroom Classic for a 'tethered capture'.
So I downloaded the latest version of the EOS Utility 3 from the Canon website. It all installed okay, but when I connect my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV to my laptop via a cable, it does not recognise the camera.
I have tested the cable and it works with the camera and an Android laptop.
However, Lightroom is installed on my Mac and I would like to continue to use it on my Mac.
I can't figure out what the problem is when I connect the Camera to my Mac.
Please help!

I had the same situation...my 5d3 won't open eos utility when connecting to my MacBook. The way i solved it was opening the app Image Capture that is default in Mac ...when it was open i could see my pictures...But the best part is that when i clicked an icon in the upper part of the app window, it gave me options to make whatever program I wanted the default to open when I Connected my camera. Then I looked in a Folder named Canon Utilities...and voilá...Selected the Eos utility app and reconnected the camera...and it opened EO automatically...giving me all the options to download images from the card that i wanted (Cf or Sd) and options to tether to the computer...
