Hi all,
I have an EOS Rebel SL1. I'm trying to connect to my Macbook Pro (M1, Sequoia 15.3.1) via the A/V to USB cable. I downloaded the EOS Utility and I continue to get error messages.
How do I go about downloading the 2.0 version? Is that the only option here?
When I go to this website below, it doesn't show the EOS Rebel SL1 as compatible.

Hi bcjmbam,
The import software offered through Canon for the EOS Rebel SL1 is EOS Utility 2. EOS Utility 2 is the only version of that program that can recognize your camera. That is a 32 bit program and newer Mac operating systems will not run or allow installation of 32 bit programs. Due to that you will not be able to use the EOS Utility for transferring your photos. At this time there are no plans to update EOS Utility 2 for newer Mac operating systems. You are able to use a piece of software built into your Mac computer called Image Capture to transfer photos. To use Image Capture:
1) Click on the Finder icon in your dock (the square smiley face with a line down the middle).
2) Select Applications.
3) Image Capture will be listed in here, double click it to open it.
4) Once Image Capture is open connect the camera and computer with the USB cable. At that point Image Capture should see the camera and begin showing the photos.
5) Once the photos are loaded in you can select the folder you want to save to at the bottom of the window and you can import with the Import button in the bottom right of the window.
If that doesn't work with the USB there is one other thing that you can try. The steps will be the same, but on step 4 you would plug the memory card into a memory card reader.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm not looking to use EOS utility to transfer photos, I have a plugin with the SD card where I can transfer the photos. I was looking to use the EOS Utility so that I can see the screen of the camera on my computer. I'm using the camera to record talking head videos of myself, so basically I'll have the camera facing towards me and I want to be able to see what's visible on the camera screen (including settings, grid, etc.).
Ideally, I'd be able to control the camera from the computer, but it sounds like that's not possible. Would the best way to view the screen of the camera on my screen to buy an HDMI cord to project the camera onto the computer?
Thanks!
