EOS Utility Stopped Working

JasonFerry

Hello! I've used EOS Utility on my Rebel T7 for years and haven't had any issues, however today it stopped working. The software no longer sees my camera however the computer does (it makes a sound every time it's plugged in/out). Does anyone know a fix?

Here's everything that I've tried

  • New cables
  • Updating Windows
  • Updating my graphics drivers
  • Uninstalling every software that I've downloaded since EOS worked last
  • Different cameras (I have 2 Rebel T7s, they both stopped working)
  • Connecting to a new computer (they do work with my other computer, which means it's something with my computer?)
  • Going into the x86 files and launching the .exe file
  • Reinstalling EOS (multiple times)
  • Resetting the camera settings

  • Which version of Windows?
  • What type of update did you apply to Windows?
  • Have you tried to manually start the EOS Utility?
  • is wireless communications disabled?

Make sure there’s only one app running that communicates with the camera.

I also have a problem opening EOS Utility 2 after updating to Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.1. I get the spinning wheel. I have tried reinstalling Utility and rebooting computer with no success. I've also tried Utility and Utility 3. Solutions?

Same problem with R50.

  • Windows 10 Home, version 22H2, OS build 19045.5487.
  • I have tried manually starting the EOS Utility (running the .exe from the x86 folder), but it still doesn’t detect my camera.
  • Wireless communication is disabled. I’ve ensured that only the EOS Utility is running that could be communicating with the camera.
  • EOS version is 3.18.40.9

Any solutions?

Did you install the Webcam Utility? In another thread I found out that there was a conflict between EOS3 and the Webcam Utility, but uninstalling it didn't help due to a process I couldn't get to stop or go away.  I found the solution for that in another thread - drag the EOS Webcam Utility to the Trash to uninstall it and then go to Library⁩ ▸ ⁨CoreMediaIO⁩ ▸ ⁨Plug-Ins⁩ ▸ ⁨DAL ▸ ⁨EOSWebcamUtility.plugin and delete the plugins at this location.  This last part I found here: https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/EOS-Webcam-Utility-Pro/Uninstall-Webcam-Utility-Beta-for-Mac/m-p/...

Hope this helps you, to.  It made my day! Thanks again Davey83!
