Hello, I recently bought the canon r50 and am trying to use it with the canon camera connect app. I am disabled and in a wheelchair so I have a mount on my chair to hold the camera. Is there a way that I can adjust the zoom function with the canon connect app without having to touch the actual camera? I am not able to do the pinch-to-zoom method so I’m looking for a slider on the camera connect app but am having difficulty finding how to adjust the zoom on the app. I am mainly wanting to do video recording.

There are two types of zoom, so I want to check what you want to achieve.
Zoom the lens fitted to the camera - There are a handful of lenses that have a powered zoom adapter accessory. The EOS R50 standard zoom lenses RF-S 18-45mm and RF-S 18-150mm do not work with this zoom adapter accessory. This means you won't be able to zoom the lens and change the framing of the camera and pictures captured.
Zooming in the camera connect app is possible by double tapping on the preview image shown. This will magnify the image at the point where the tap is made. A second double tap will zoom back out. This works for both video and stills modes. There is no option to change the zoom amount.

Thank you for the information. This is my first time ever being able to operate a camera so I’m not entirely sure what I’m looking for. I got my college degree in mass communication so I know how to operate it just not done it through my phone. I know it probably depends on what I’m recording but in your experience, will I need to be able to adjust the zoom in the middle of recording?

The need to zoom in to the subject while recording a movie will depend on the subject. In may cases movie makers don't zoom during a scene, but reposition the camera or adjust in between each sequence. However if you are recording a person demonstrating a cookery process for example, you might want to zoom in to specific details during filming. Though even then I might be more tempted to use another camera or do the zoom when editing if possible. For example shooting in 4K on the camera would allow a zoom to 1/4 of the frame in the edit if the final output will be FullHD.

Is there a canon camera or any camera where I can control and adjust the zoom with my phone especially while recording?

Tyabain,
You might be able to do this with the Canon Powershot line of cameras.
Try asking your question in that Forum and see what people tell you.
I know I have a T8i and it has a Digital Zoom function, but I've never explored whether that works in the Camera Connect app or not.
