Canon EOS VR utility not working with the Mac OS 15.4 after this got sorted out for the 15.2

Hi the Canon EOS VR Utility is causing me the same problem that was reported on the Mac OS 15.2  version

I now have the same problem using Mac OS 15.4 and I have all the updated software that got pushed out this year.  with the new Canon OS Utility from  Jan 25 and Mar 25 .

The VR Utility software just freezes so if you have this problem and can revert back to OS 15.2 you might find it still works.

But for myself I'm stuck because my new machine came out with OS 15.4 installed and I don't know how to get back to an earlier version  I hope Canon can do a quick update again, its probably the same problem that effected the 15.2 version Of Mac OS and Canon need to do another update to keep up with what they are doing which is a shame .

Hi Yapstam,

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the EOS VR Utility on your computer. To trouble shoot this we would need more information on what is happening for you. I see you mentioned it is the same as a previous issue, but things like freezing can happen for different reasons. So we would need information on what is specifically happening in your case.

Is the software freezing when you first open it up, or does it only freeze when you try to use a specific function in the software? Is this happening with every file in the software? Do any error messages show on the computer when the software freezes and if there is an error message what does it say word for word?

Hi good Morning

The camera I am using is the Canon R5c with the latest firmware update , the Lens in the VR 180 Canon RF5.2 F2.8L dual fisheye lens
~The software is the EOS software Vr Utility is the latest   16.0 .
My computer is the Apple Mac Studio M3 Ultra with 256gig ram 80 Core GPU 60 core CPU 32 core neural engine running the latest OS Mac Seqoia 15.4.1 I am using the canon battery grip with two Batteries installed and I am shooting in 8k RAW LT  and the CF Express card I am using is the Lexar 1TB silver professional  3000mb write speed and 3600mb read speed  the CF Express card reader is the Lexar professional 4.0 USB 4

The Problem I am getting in the EOS VR Utility app ,is  I am getting no error message ,it is just freezing and stopping when completing  an export to PRO res HQ , Pro RES  4444 and Pro Res 422. No error  message and this normally freezes in the last second of the export and does not progress.
And I end up having to force quit the program . Also I am putting the CF express card reader through a thunderbolt 5 port .

I hope this helps with getting the problem resolve , it sound like a similar problem most had when they upgraded to the Mac OS 15.2 but that problem has been resolved.

also I have raised this by email to canon who are dealing with this and have replied and I have put this on this discussion board to help other if they experience a similar issue

many thanks for your reply I hope to get more response by email from Canon USA. In the next  few days

The only thing I can think of is I’m running the Brand new Mac Studio M3 Ultra  which has just been released this year.

Hi all

I think I may of found my problem I was recording with the canon R5c with the battery grip Bg10 with the new  EP-6 batteries this allows me to record 8k raw Lt on the canon R5c with the firmware update would this mean I could only save to a max setting of 8k pro res LT and why I was not being able to save in the higher setting of pro res 422 and 422HQ and 4444. I will get a battery pack now and hopefully record to a higher setting and see what f that resolves my problem .
could you confirm if you think this is the case .

many thanks Scott

Hello Yapstam,

That is a great observation. It could likely affect how/what you're able to save.
