Hi,
Will a wireless remote trigger work between two different cameras?
I have an R3 and an R5. I want to place my R5 somewhere 5-10 feet from me and trigger it with the R3 using some kind of 3rd party wireless remote system.
I'm thinking of one of the Pocket Wizard models like the PlusX. Or can anyone recommend a better system?
Thanks.

Pocket Wizard products have been used by professional photographers for years. They are reliable for the kind of remote triggering you want to do. Both your cameras have the same Canon N3 remote connector so make sure you get the right cables from Pocket Wizard.
In the UK we see “soccer” photographers setup cameras behind the goal and pretty much all of them have a pocket wizard connected to trigger them. At a world rally championship event in Finland a photographer setup a camera in a tree with a long lens aimed towards a bridge that the cars will go over. He triggered it from his normal photo position at the side of the road using Pocket Wizard. That head on photo was the lead image on the sports pages of the Finnish newspapers the next morning.

Great info, Brian!
Since I just use one camera at a time, I went with the MIOPS trigger. I don't normally go for phone apps, but this one is really solid. The MIOPS is very expensive, but it has a lot of features and various triggering options. I bought it mainly to shoot lighting strikes, but it will handle motion detection and other things.
