Using Mic Attenuator

I recently purchased a Canon XA25 for our church and would like to connect the audio input to the house sound. If I use the mic attenuator will that correct any problems with connecting it directly to a amp used for house speakers? 

My sound guy told me it would not work because the amp is dc and the mic input is ac or the other way around. In any case he said it would burn up the mic input. Does he know what he's talking about?

Any help on this would be apperciated.

Thank you for posting.

It is very likely the signal output directly from such a large amplifier will be too strong and the audio will sound distorted when you play it back.  At best, you can set the audio for LINE level input, then heavily attenuate the signal to keep it from clipping.  However, if that does not work, the best way to record the audio may be to take a signal off of a more central source rather than directly from the amplifier.
