Hello,
I have a Canon Vixia HFS10 camcorder that was purchased about six years ago.
Today, I connected it to my Mac to upload some video I recorded. I went through the normal steps and got a message "Please connect power adapter" (in red).
I tried...and the message did not go away.
So I figured the adapter was faulty and went and purchased another universal adapter (8.4v) at Fry's.
Tried that one...same error.
I'm wondering if my camcorder is just dead? Or is there a setting I must change on the camcorder?
Thank you,
Ted

You should have it professionally checked. Power cord problems are best handled by professionals
I can think of several issues that might cause the message. For example, a ground fault could do it. A faulty rechargeable battery might produce the same message, too. Get it checked out by a professional.

Hi Waddizzle,
Thanks very much for taking the time to respond.
I'm going to give Canon a call when I get home and speak to somebody about this and see if there is something I can test out first on my end.
Ted
