I'm finding the later versions of video editing software (Adobe) are not supporting AC3 sound codecs which are part of the MTS files my camcorder uses when I record AVCHD video. Can I change the sound codec in my G40 ??

You can use Linear PCM 16bit 48k audio if you shoot AVCHD at 28Mbps LPCM 50p or 24Mbps LPCM. Shooting in MP4 the audio is MPEG-2 AAC-LC.
I use a G40, but shoot MP4 50p 35Mbps and record the audio to a separate recorder as 24bit 48k WAV files.

Thanks for the response. It worked! All the LPCM options worked great with my PE18 editor.
