I bought a Canon Legria G40 this time last year and it worked fine until about September. It then began to zoom out randomly every now and again. The zooming out has gotten worse and worse until recently when it began to constantly zoom out. The issue appears to be worsened by the length of time spent continuously filming. I've had a technician dissasemble the camera and confirm there were no issue apart from a loose ribbon cable. This was tightened and the problem seemed to go away until I began filming for a number of minutes after which the camcorder was once again constantly zooming out.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how it may be rectified?

Sean, I too experience this issue and am reading from others’ comments that this is not a new issue for Canon. Has you problem been resolved? If so, what did you do?
