Freeware to transfer AVCHD videos?

Sebastian

I tried to use Handbrake to transfer my video collection (mainly in AVCHD format recorded with my camcorder) to Samsung Galaxy S4, everything is Ok except the video quality. It seems to be degraded heavily. When seeking for another free solution, I found macx mobile video converter giveaway edition. I never heard of it. Does anyone know how it works? Besides, I noticed that there is a time limit to activate the software. Does it mean the app only is only free for few days?

I would recommend using FFMPEG, a command-line tool. The quality should be acceptable (though slightly degraded) if you navigate to the folder your clip is in and type:

FFMPEG -i your_clip.MTS the_output_clip.mp4

That will convert the file from AVCHD format to MP4 using FFMPEG's default settings and retaining the original resolution. I would shy away from random trial software you find on the Internet.

try this free mts/m2ts converter from pav, you can find it in Apple Store. It's free and output quality is not bad
