I need help please.
I'm shooting an outdoor concert next week. It's on a town green: no stage, rock music being played through PA system.
I've done a couple of test runs at concerts at the same location using the XA10 with Rode NTG2. No matter how I set the levels, I'm getting distortion and I don't think there's any problem with the camera or the mic (tried two different NTG2s --- same not-so-good result. It's better if I keep the level at -20 or slightly higher but still not great.
Any suggestions? Are Rode NTG2s OK for this type of recording? Should I buy a different mic?
Should use the attenuator? And should I have the high pass filter on the Rode on or off?
Sorry, lots of questions but I'm really frustrated.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
David
