MF642CDW not detecting paper in tray

I have a MF642CDW that is not detecting paper in the tray. I have tried taking the paper out, tried new paper, unplugged overnight, rebooted. Nothing works. Any suggestions? Thanks. edit: I can print by loading sheets into the multipurpose tray
