This simple fix I found on this site worked for me in 2018:Start> in the run box type. Services.msc then EnterScroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)Right click, select PropertiesCheck that Startup type is set to AutomaticClick Log On TabCheck...

perhaps we should get the card manufacturers to remind us to format the cards for the cameras....lots of us forget or don't know....
