I don't think I get this. The front of the camcorder is 180 degrees out of 360. A highly directional setting would seem to be narrower than 180 degrees. Is highly directional more select than just front or back?

my GF came up with the answer: set the camera to a lower data rate then the camera will allow mic adjustment. you can then set the camera back to a higher rate and maybe it will hold the directionality you chose. maybe it will record. So nonintuitive...
