RC-IP1000 Stick Drift

Hey all,

I’m on a show setting up the RC-IP1000 PTC controller with two CR-N500s and the are constantly panning to the left. If I pan the joystick to the right it goes but the second I let go it pans to the left again. If I switch from Camera 1 to control Camera 2, 1 will stop panning and 2 will start. Is there a way to re-calibrate the joystick on the controller? I cannot figure this out.

Thanks

Fixed it by power cycling the controller, but if someone can answer the joystick calibration question that would be great!

Based upon your description it sounds like a controller issue or a controller/camera communications issue, not an issue with either camera.

Have you watched the Canon instructional video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klGKQbzkRNg ?

An AI search turned up the following potential issues:

  • The control transmission contains corrupted data.
  • The control wire is too long, has lost integrity, exhibits Crosstalk.
  • Data lines to the cameras have ground faults on them.

Two of those three involve cabling issues.  You would need to share a few more details regarding your cabling configuration, including lengths, to assist in diagnosis.  I am not familiar with the unit and see it runs on 12v and Power over Ethernet.  If you could provide that information it might help, as well.  I know some devices are underpowered when run over just Power over Ethernet (PoE)

Greetings,

in addition I think you should reach out to Canon support.  This number is specific for PTZ cameras, including CN-500's

I suspect they will have more information about calibrating the controller when used with these cameras.
