Speedlite EL-1 paired with 600EX-RT

Is it possible to link the EL-1 in "Manual" mode with the 600EX-RT in "Multi" mode? The EL-1 forces the 600EX-RT out of multi mode and into the manual mode every time I fire the flash.

What camera are you using older cameras DO NOT support certain modes. Some cameras ONLY support wireless E-TTL flash and NOT Manual, Stroboscopic, Multi, Ext. A & Ext. M metering modes. Also are you using Radio wireless or Optical wireless (line of sight). Just to confirm you're using the original 600EX-RT not the newer 600EX II-RT speedlite.

Sorry, forgot to mention. I am using the EL-1 as the sender unit and the 600EX-RT as the receiver unit.

What camera are you using. Certain cameras have limitations when it comes wireless shooting whether that be radio or optical transmission. Which method are you using radio or optical transmission. Certain speedlites also have limitations too. What camera & speedlite combination are you using. Also are you using Group Mode on the Sender speedlite.
