Speedlite 470EX-AI battery problems

Hi,

Does anyone see an issues or know how to solve 470ex- AL Speedlite battery problems. I'm using new AA batteries for this flash but it says not charged and just gets shutdown. Any recommendations on how to fix this or what could be the problem.

Also the batteries get just too hot, within 30 seconds of use ( then the flash shuts-down saying no charge).

Appreciate anyone's help here.

Thanks.

Sounds like an internal component or circuit failure. Perhaps the capacitor.

What kind of batteries are they alkaline or rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable batteries don't work well with that speedlite. Most AA rechargeable batteries put out 1.2 volts instead of 1.6 volts that alkaline batteries put out. The speedlite will see this as a dead battery. Then it won't power on or it will power then turn off after the flash fires. Due to the inadequate voltage.

These are normal AA alkaline batteries.
