G7X III stopped while in use, lens stuck extended.

I have this camera directly from canononline back in laste 2022.  Two days ago at an event, I was taking a photo when I noticed the image appeared stuck on the LCD for mabye 15 seconds, which was longer than usual for the RAW mode image to save...  I thought oh, maybe I'll have to power off/ on the camera and possibly even pop out the battery etc.    Oddly, the LCD went POOF... like a white screen.... then the LCD went dark... like off.   And that was it, regardless of popping out the battery, changing for another battery... (I have two batteries) it was of no use.

Earlier today, when I took a look at my camera and pressed the power button, the display said the usual no battery indicator, when it doesn't have a charge...  I was like wow, let me grab my other battery.   I did, and the camera could turn on/off, the lens would retract, extend, I could take pics.    I played around with it for 5 min, all seemed well, I could browse my memory card (samsung) play a video, etc.

Then I decided to do a test with letting it video record.   I set the camera down just to let ot record, then problems starting arising, the same problems, the LCD went dark but no white POOF...  there were two thin wite horizontal lines and the LCD though dark, if I looked at it at an angle, could still see it was lit.

I had to pop out the battery but now again, the lens is stuck extended... Personally I don't think the issue has anything to do with recording.

The fact that once operational again, the LCD showed everything as it should.. the LCD isn't broken, but something quirky is going on w/ the internals, the mainboard or something.

Should I send the unit into CANON for repair?   I'd be happy to continue keeping this camera.
