Speedlite 430EX Flash Exposure Confirmation Light is on Red All the Time

Does anybody know what it means when the flash exposure confirmation light is on red all the time - even when the flash is turned off? Just recently as soon as I put batteries in my flash this light is on & never goes off - is it time for a new flash?

It sounds like your speedlite needs repair then. But Canon no longer repairs it anymore. So a 3rd Party will have to repair it. Or replacement maybe warranted if it can't be fixed. Does the speedlite still work as normal. Except for the light being on all the time.

Do you need a recommendation for a new speedlite. Do you have a budget to spend on a new one. If so how much and what features do you need. All of Canon's EX and newer EL lineup of speedlites are compatible with your camera. Except for the new EL-5 speedlite. That speedlite is designed for use on certain EOS R series cameras with a Multi Function Hot Shoe.

Yes, you should look for another flash. Your flash is clearly malfunctioning, and any repair would not be cost effective.

A Canon 430EX II would be a very good replacement. Because it is newer, it is fully compatible with the in-camera flash menu.
