I just got a canon r6 mark II and I can't figure out how to connect my canon speedlite 430 EX II without using the Hot shoe

Are you wanting to use that flash off-camera? If so, I think you'd only have a couple of options as that version of the flash cannot be controlled wirelessly via a radio trigger.

  1. An off-camera shoe cord.  Of course the length of the cord/cable will limit you.
  2. Another flash in the hot shoe that will serve as the sender. Then setting that up to control the 430 EX II optically (line-of-sight).

You will either need an off shoe cord or another speedlite that can serve as an optical sender/ master. As my colleague has mentioned. The camera itself cannot control it wirelessly.
