would like recommendations for an external battery pack for a 580EX II. Any thougths on the Nissin PS8?

Of course, there is the Canon CP-E4 and then there is an off-brand JJC that makes them for a fraction of the cost of a Canon. They use 8, AA batteries

would prefer a rechargable unit. Theres Flashpointt, Nissin and Quantum which is a bit expensive. Probably others.

The connection uses 300 volts and uses a complicated control circuit. You can't build one yourself or mod any 12v source.
