Hello,
I have some write this, you can see this

If the roller on your Canon DR-G1100 scanner is not spinning, it could indicate a mechanical issue with the scanner.

there are some troubleshooting steps you can try to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:

Check Power and Connections: Ensure that the scanner is properly connected to a power source and that all cables are securely plugged in. Verify that the power switch is turned on, and there are no loose connections.

Restart the Scanner: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor issues. Turn off the scanner, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on again.

Clean the Roller: The roller might be obstructed by dust, dirt, or debris, preventing it from spinning correctly. Check your scanner's user manual for instructions on how to access and clean the roller properly.

Verify Paper Placement: Make sure that the paper or document you are scanning is correctly aligned with the roller. Improper paper alignment can cause the roller to jam or not spin.

Update Scanner Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest scanner drivers installed on your computer. Outdated drivers can sometimes lead to compatibility issues.

Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages or indicator lights on the scanner's display panel. Error messages can provide clues about the specific issue.

Check for Warranty Coverage: If your scanner is still under warranty, contact Canon's customer support or the authorized service center to report the issue and seek assistance.

Contact Technical Support: If the problem persists after trying the above steps, reach out to Canon's technical support for further troubleshooting and assistance. They may be able to provide additional guidance or recommend a solution based on your specific scanner model.

Hi,

If you have not done so, you can try cleaning the rollers and pad. You can refer to the User’s Manual for the steps. Instructions for “Opening the Upper Unit” can be found on page 5-3. Instructions for taking the rollers out and putting them back in can be found in the section of the manual titled “Removing and Reinstalling the Rollers” (starting on page 5-9).

Instructions for cleaning the rollers and pad can be found in the section titled “Cleaning the Scanning Glass, Roller, and Pad” (starting on page 5-3). You should only clean the rollers and the pad. It is not necessary to clean the glass. Please click HERE if you would like to open and view a PDF version of the manual.

If the roller cleaning does not help, you can order an Exchange Roller Kit. Canon recommends that you purchase the roller kit through the dealer that sold you this unit. If you do not have a dealer, you can call Canon Solutions America to get the information on the closest dealer to you. You can reach them at 1-800-815-4000.

You can use the section titled “Removing and Reinstalling the Roller” (starting on page 5-9) to install the new rollers. More information can be found starting on page 5-6 of the User’s Manual. After you replace the rollers, you will have to reset the counter. You can refer to the section titled “Checking and Resetting the Page Counter” (starting on page 5-7) for instructions.

IMPORTANT: The part number that appears in the manual is no longer being used. Please use the new part number when doing a search for the roller kit.
