Brand new LIDE 400 scanner and the software install hangs (windows not responding) trying to get from step 1 to step 2. I have tried downloading and the included CD. Windows 11. Rebooted, reinstalled, redownloaded, etc. Always the same. Please help.

Hi conquesodor,

To install your CanoScan LiDE 400 on your Windows 11 computer, please follow these steps:

1.  Please disconnect the USB cable.

2.  Please click this link to download the driver.

3.  Once that file finishes downloading, please open or run it to begin the installation.

4.  Follow the on screen prompts to install the driver.

Thanks, but I don't need to know how to install the software. The installer starts, but stops responding after step 1.

Hi conquesodor,

You stated that you were installing from the CD and also the software installer downloaded from the Support Page of your LiDE 400.

The link that I provided is only for the driver.  I wanted to see if you were able to install the driver or if there was an issue with that as well.

Please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

Once logged in, click on your product and then click on the Product Support button. When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support. A Technical Support Representative can determine the cause of the issue and resolve it for you via phone or chat.

Thanks for the clarification. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Yes, I can install the driver and the scanner works. I successfully scanned an image with Photoshop. It's the software package that stalls, immediately after agreeing to the service boilerplate. The spinning dots disappear and nothing more happens.

Hi again,

I tried the software on my home computer and it worked for me.  There may be security software on your computer blocking the setup software from communicating with Canon servers.  Please note, the setup software you are attempting to install installs the driver, ScanGear, the IJ Scan Utility.  Because you have already installed the drivers, everything is already installed.
