I just set up the scanner. When I press the buttons on the scanner or use the lj scan utility nothing happens. If I access the scanner through Windows Settings screens the scanner works and scans a document and saves it. When I use my scanner software, the scanner acts like it's working, but does not actually perform a scan. Is there any way to get the buttons on the scanner and the lj scan utility to work or is the scanner defective?

Hi,
If the scanning element is not moving even when disconnecting and reconnecting the scanner, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
