CanoScan 5600F - Compatible Win10 Driver?

Hi,

I recently acquired a Canon Canoscan 5600F flatbed scanner that I wish to use digitizing some 35mm slides.  When I down loaded the available driver from the Canon web page, I got the message that it wasn't compatible.  I'm suspecting that it is a 32 bit version (Windows 10).  I'm hoping someone has a working 64bit (Windows 10) driver, that they would be willing to email me, or advise where I could find such an item.  Thanks for any help.

Is Windows 10 what your computer is running? What driver did you download? Canon support for this scanner offers a Win 10 64-bit driver as well as 32-bit. You want the 64-bit.

Here it is:

If you have Windows 11, the Win 10 64-bit driver is likely to work.

Hi,   Thanks for your reply.  I am running Windows 10 and have already downloaded the file you suggested.  I'm thinking that that driver is for 32bit and so I was hoping someone could email a driver that does work, or the location of a driver that does work. The message I get is ... "The scanner driver supported by this software is not installed.  Install it and then retry."  The software I'm using is also from the Canon site, titled  MP Navigator EX.  Perhaps there is other software available somewhere that will embrace the driver that Canon offers.  Thanks for any help.

Emailing licensed software is against the Terms of Service.

Your printer has been retired and is no longer eligible for support from Canon USA. No further software or drivers will be developed; however, a 64-bit Windows 10 driver is currently available.

Tap this link to go to the support page for your printer: https://canon.us/4gFISKV
Expand the Software & Drivers section, then select Windows 10 (x64)

Then:

You'll see this driver is supported by 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10:

Sorry, I did not realize discontinued hardware had issues with emailing drivers.  When I acquired the scanner, I immediately downloaded the files you have pointed out.  When trying to activate, I get the message  "The scanner driver supported by this software is not installed.  Install it and then retry."  My take from that is, either the software is not appropriate, or the driver is not compatible.  I have some knowledge of computers (using PCs since DOS 3.2) and have tried many avenues.  When I go to  -  add printers and scanners - the computer does not find it nor even list Canon as a possible to select from.  Thank you for your time in helping me get to the bottom of this issue.

Why are you obsessing about the 32-bit driver, when there is a 64-bit driver?

First install the driver. Then install MP Navigator EX.  What happens?

When I acquired the scanner a week ago, the first thing I did was go to the Canon site and download the offered driver and software (MP Navigator EX).  When installed, I got the message "The scanner driver supported by this software is not installed.  Install it and then retry."  Also, when I try to "add a printer/scanner" nothing is recognized.

Did you install the DRIVER FIRST?

Yes, I loaded the driver first.  I have tried running with out the software, just the driver (it should work somewhat) but nothing. Computer will not find the scanner when I run  -add a printer or scanner-.  So that is probably the first issue.
