xa10 video and audio not in sync

dgorke-36

I have been using an xa10 to video events for about 3 years.  Recently I have noticed that the audio and video are not in sync.  Whether I use the internal mic or an external mic, hooked to the "mic terminal", the audio and video are not in sync.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for your response.

I always keep my raw video files separate from my finished video files.  when I go to the raw video and play it, the audio and video are in sync.  I have determined that my version of Photoshop 26 appears to be the  reason that the audio and video are out of sync.

Thank you,

Dave

Greetings dgorke-36,

Sorry to hear that you are having audio and video sync issues, and it is odd that this issue was not happening when you first got the camcorder. There are a couple of things you could check to see if we can pinpoint the root cause of the issue.

Let's check to see if the audio and video are out of sync when playing back the video file from the camera's LCD screen and with hearing the audio from the camera. You may also test to see if a television will play back the video and audio without issues when connecting the camera to the television with an HDMI cable.

Another thing you could try is to format the memory card and record a test clip or test a different memory card with the camera. This may help to see if the card might be the issue.

If the audio and video sync issue only occur when working with the video file on a computer, then the issue may be the timeline project in the video editor or playback issues with the media player that is being used when watching the video file.

In case the above steps do not apply or do not resolve the issue, then we would have suggested on sending the Canon XA10 camcorder to our facility for repair but per review, this camcorder has reached the end of its service life and repairs are no longer performed on it. You may check to see if you may be eligible for the Canon Upgrade Program.

The Canon Upgrade Program option allows you to replace your current product with a new or refurbished Canon product at a discounted price. If you would like to take part in the Canon Upgrade Program, please call our Sales Department at 1-866-443-8002 from Monday - Friday between 9:00 am to 6:00 pm ET.
