After a frustrating search I have not been able to find info on controlling the R8 via a USB wired connection from a gimbal? This one does not offer a bluetooth controller for the R8. Only option is usb-c to usb-c.
Spoke with the gimbal people but no one had experience with the R8.
Helm me out with this, please?

Hi MonteWard,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues controlling your camera through your gimbal. Through Canon support we only have information on the products made by Canon, so we do not have information on what your gimbal needs. Also we cannot guarantee that non-Canon equipment would work with the camera. On the camera itself there aren't any gimbal specific settings, but there is a USB control setting to check.
To check that have the camera in either P, Tv, Av, or M mode and press the Menu button. Go to the fourth page under the yellow wrench icon and select Choose USB Connection App. The options on the next page tell the camera type of function the USB port should be using. The one to select is going to depend on what the gimbal needs for communication. Most likely it would either be the Photo Import/Remote Control option or the Canon app(s) for iPhone option. You may need to try both out to see which on allows the gimbal to communicate with the camera.
