Being able to use the detachable C400 monitor via USB on the C80 would be incredibly useful, especially on a gimbal. Can anyone confirm whether the C400 monitors are compatible with the C80 and can they be purchased separately?

I don't have a C400 to test with, but I'd be pessimistic. Video out is not a basic USB feature, so if the device doesn't advertise it, I would assume it's not there.
The C80 does support UVC over USB. UVC is a protocol that sends video as data over USB, and it's typically used for webcams. So the C80 can be used as a webcam.
But for connecting to a monitor, you want DisplayPort (DP) output, which uses different wires to send an actual video signal. This is quite different. As far as I know, the C80 doesn't have that. In any case I tried connecting it to a USB monitor and got nothing.
And of course the C400 monitor may go beyond normal USB standards in any case. For example the display has touch input, which as far as I know would require at least some additions to the basic USB standards.
