How to keep mic level icon on display on my Vix G20

I put the mic control icon on the screen, but when I turn the power on and off if is gone.

Is there any way I can keep it on by default?

Hello lkreider, 

Since that is one of the custom settings I believe what you describe is accurate.  That is, having to set it upon turning the camcorder back on each time.  I believe the reasoning for this would that it's not a default setting per se, and may affect the use of it in situations where it may not be warranted or wanted if it were left on by default.  I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

Thanks for the reply.  So I have to choose between mic level or manual exposure compensaition on the customizable dial?  Too bad, but it is a nice machine for the money.
