Hello there,
Is it possible to download the c500 mk2 service manual ? My local Canon representative won´t honor the US warranty (the camera is brand new) and the US Canon service center does not accept packages from outside the USA so I'm literally out of options but to try to repair it myself.
Thanks in advance

Greetings,
Service manuals are not generally available to the public. I'm not saying you can't find one but it's going to be very difficult (maybe impossible).
I would pay for the repair. The C500 Mark II is not something you want to try to take apart on your own. In the end, this should be something valuable to learn from. As attractive as buying a product can be when you're on vacation. It's these types of (support / warranty) situations that remind us, it's not a good idea. It essentially puts you into a grey market situation after paying full price. It puts you as the purchaser in a bad position. Jeopardizing warranty and support.
Take a look at a site called uscamera dot com. Again, however, I recommend that the repair be performed by an authorized service center. You can take something apart but what happens if it needs a replacement part? I feel awful about your situation. I hope it works out.

Hi, I understand the nature of regional warrants. What I don't understand is the Canon US service center saying they won't accept a camera under warranty shipped from outside the US for service. That's just not right. Being in this industry for more than 30 years and dealing with many brands like Arri, Sony, Panasonic, Angenieux, Cooke, Zeiss, etc. I never had any issues by sending equipment for service. It is professional equipment, and specially the ones meant for doc work which are supposed to work around the world, on remote locations, etc.
About repairing the camera myself, aparently there's nothing broken on the ND filter, only badly assembled. Sometimes it works fine but you can't really trust it with the risk of having the ND stuck. Also it's not like I have other options. The worst that can happen would be to realize that I need a replacement part and having to order it or not being able to assemble it back an have to put the pieces in a bag. That's where the service manual or at least the spare parts catalog would become helpfull.
thanks for taking the time on this matter, I received more help and attention from you than from Canon !!

Hi, RodrigoLizana! Our Factory Service Centers are unable to receive packages shipped from outside the United States and they're also unable to ship outside the US. One possible workaround is to have someone here in the US act as a middleman for you. If you have a friend or relative in this country, you can ship the camera to them first and they can ship it to us. We would then ship it back to them and they would ship it back to you.
Hope that helps!

Hi Danny,
Thanks for the advice. Wrote to B&H yesterday to see if I can ship the camera there and have them to ship it to Canon service center. Guese I will have to wait until monday for an answer.
As for asking a friend, I do know people in the US but don't feel confortable asking them to work as a middleman for something Canon should be able to do in the first place.
Thanks again for the advice. Appreciate the effort to offer a solution for me.
Rodrigo
