I’m having problems with getting videos to show on pc. When I record in mp4 format the videos will show. But any other format it won’t show. I’m using a cf express card for the videos. I downloaded eos utility driver and only photos and mp4 files will show. I bought a cf express card reader type b and the video files still won’t show. How can I view the video I record on my camera on my computer????

.mp4 files recorded on the R5C are perfectly standard MP4 files, encoded as either H.264or H.265, depending on which you chose. I routinely copy these to my PC using a card reader and use them as is, without using XF utilitity or any other Canon software.
However these files are very high bitrate. They will generally not play directly, because your computer likely isn't powerful enough. For example, when I double-click one of these files, the video jerks forwards a couple of times then freezes, leaving just the audio. But when I load the files into a video editor and edit with them, they're prefectly fine.
For more innfo on this, see this thread: https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/EOS-DSLR-Mirrorless-Cameras/Canon-R5-video-file-sizes-trouble-dow...
If you're having some other problem, then you need to provide more information. Saying that some files "cannot be played" is no use. Do you mean that you get an error message? Does the player crash? Does it play jerkily/badly? Does the pcture look wierd? You are giving us no clues at all.
What record modes, exactly, are you using? What exactly are these files called on your computer? Providing some screen shots might help.
I get that this is frustrating, but if you can't tell us what is actually going wrong, then we can't help.

As a side note, if they are 10bit files the free version of DaVinci Resolve will not open them on a PC. You would need the Studio version of Resolve.

Hi I think I'm having the same problem. So I have a Canon r5c and am shooting on cfexpress type b. I only have a cfexpress card mounted, no othe sd cards. My video settings are RAW LT at 25P of course written on the cfexpress. The camera automatically sets the resolution at 8192x4320. I can play back the 8K video no problem on the camera's media player. I have also tested other formats, I mean I can shoot with no problems at all also with XF-AVC YCC422 10 bit and MP4(HEVC) YCC422 10bit. I recorded with these formats in 8k and 4k. No problem shooting and playing them back from the camera. All saved on the cfexpress.
The problem arises as soon as I try to transfer them to my Windows 11 PC. I do not own a cfexpress card reader so I connected the camera to the PC with the usbc cable I was given with the canon r5c. Now my PC can open the folder This PC>Canon EOS R5 c>CFe>DCIM>100R5VEC but as soon as I open it it says "This folder is empty.". From my tests this folder should contain the RAW file video and XF-AVC. I say this because another folder was created at This PC>Canon EOS R5 c>CFe>DCIM>200_1121 and in here is my video I shot in MP4(HEVC) together with the XML file. I can copy the MP4 file easily from there so no problem with that. I have tried to access the RAW and XF-AVC videos from my PC with both picture mode and video mode on my camera. So then I tried to download Canon XF Utility and Cinema RAW Development. I have also installed Digital Photo Professional 4. I already had EOS Utility 3 installed. So I tried accessing the videos from the Canon apps and the following are the results.
EOS Utility 3 (only accessible in photo mode) I could see my pictures taken with the cfexpress and the video shot in MP4(HEVC). The RAW video and XF-AVC video were completely inexistent.
Cinema RAW Development I tried opening the folders like earlier from inside the application but it doesen't show anything as if the folder was empty. This happens both for This PC>Canon EOS R5 c>CFe>DCIM>100R5VEC and This PC>Canon EOS R5 c>CFe>DCIM>200_1121. So basically I can't access my RAW, XF-AVC and MP4(HEVC) videos at all from the canon apps, none of them. The software doesn't see, let me see, find, show anything. The folder is like empty. Basically I can't transfer or preview any video. Tried this in bothe photo and video mode.
The same as for Cinema RAW Development happens in Canon XF Utility. Both for photo and video mode.
Lastly I tried opening Digital Photo Professional 4 and finding the videos there. I was hoping to use the RAW video tool in the tools. And surely again the folders were empty. No files. No trace for the RAW, XF-AVC and MP4.
What should I try next?
Thanks for the help
Here are some screenshots. Some settings are in Italian, hope you don't mind.

I suspect the issue you're running into is that the R5C's USB is basically broken. It doesn't show all the files to the host. MP4s show up, but basically nothing else. I've never used XF Utility or that stuff -- I just use the file manager -- but if the files aren't showing, then it won't matter what software you use on the host side.
I'm afraid you're going to need to invest in a CF Express card reader. Good news is they aren't very expensive.

I highly doubt USB issue; I could download any files in Win10 pc but the only issue is that Software does NOT support 8k format and thus it won’t show in the screen; The only thing I consider is to use Da Vinci Resolve standard version and not free ver., which is a bit pricy.

I actually have DaVinci Resolve Studio. Ho can I access the camera's cfexpress from the media pool? Could you help? I don't see my Canon r5c in the folders in the media pool section

Leonardo-147, I have no idea. Personally I always copy the files to a folder on my computer, using Windows file manager, and edit from there. Editing the files directly off your camera seems really dubious to me.

No, of course I was not trying to edit an 8K file from my camera hahaha. I was trying to find a way to preview the files, or just see it the computer by any chance sees the files from there.

I was replying to Leonardo-147. Your problem sounds like something else.
If you are trying to use Resolve free version, then it's no wonder you're having issues, the free version does not support 10-bit files. You will either have to shoot in 8-bit, or downconvert to 8-bit, or buy Resolve Studio.

Following your observation I have tried changing other 2 cables and the same happens. I see the MP4 file but not the XF-AVC or RAW files. So I guess it's not the cable.
