Windows 11, Lightroom Classic, Canon Pro-300 printer
If I use the Lightroom Print module to print to JPEG, and then print that using any other program (WIndows Photo, Canon Easy-Photo-Print etc) , I get more or less accurate colors. I select an appropriate ICC profile for the printer and paper, but to be honest I can't see much difference if I set match to "Standard", "ICM" (with profile) or "None".
If I try to print from Lightroom, directly, then one of two things happen:
1) If I select color management "Managed by printer", then the photo prints with a greenish cast, no matter how I set the colour matching in the (Canon) print driver control panel. I am told this is a symptom of NOT applying the ICC profile at all.
2) if I select an installed profile, then the photo prints with a magenta cast, no matter what I select on the print driver control panel. That seems to be a symptom of the profile being applied twice.
I don;t really understand the print driver control panel. I am assuming that in order to disable the default ICC profile, I need to select "Color/Intensity: manual":
and then select "None" for the matching
But even that does not seem to have an effect. From my limited understanding of how this works, it seems that the Canon driver choices are being over-ridden by Lightroom in some way. I have asked the same question on the Lightroom forums, and the general consensus is that you can't print colour properly on Canon printers from Lightroom, so not to try (but Epsom do work). But it feels wrong just to give up like that....

I can't answer in english but only in french. I hope you will translate easy.

(Answer in english ! ...)
I have found a solution to this kind of problem but I don't know of a serious explanation. Nevertheless, it works.
In the LR "development" module, indicate the print profile of the paper and tick "soft proofing".
In the LR "printing" module, for "profile", choose "printer managed" (do not indicate the print profile there).
Press the "printer" button and then in the "quick configuration" tab, check "manual color and intensity adjustment".
In the "main" tab, choose "manual" for "color/intensity". Press the "set" button. In the "matching" tab, choose "ICM" for "color correction" and indicate the print profile.

If you want the printer to manage color you need to tell it how.
If you are using Canon papers you can select Driver Matching. Then the driver will select the appropriate ICC profile for the Canon paper you are using.
If you are using a third-party paper select ICM and then select the appropriate paper ICC profile. You would need to also select the proper media type based on the paper vendor recommendations.
"the general consensus is that you can't print colour properly on Canon printers from Lightroom," This is bogus; I have been doing it since Lightroom was a beta version for trial.
I recommend you let LrC (Lightroom Classic) manage color.
If you want printer to manage and are using Canon paper here is how:
If you want to use third-party paper here is how:
You didn't say you were doing this, but if you are, do not select the Print Preview in the driver. I never do, so don't have direct experience, but I have seen it posted that colors can go wonky if you do that.
I am assuming that you have run a nozzle check to verify that all inks are printing correctly.
