imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 setup problem: Protective material not removed completely error

KimChristensen

I'm trying to setup an image Prograf Pro 1100 photo printer that I just purchased. I got all of the ink installed. I think installing the print head is next, but the printer is telling me that all of the protective material has not been removed, but I swear I've removed all of the orange tape as well as the large orange plastic piece that I think holds the print head receptor in place. A you tube video I watched showed this receptor to be at the left when you open the top cover, but mine is all the way to the right where you can't get to it. When I gently try to pull it to the left, it moves part way but then won't go any farther. When I shut the top cover the display says "Processing Please Wait Momentarily" and I hear the printer trying to do something, but then the display returns to saying "Protective material not removed completely. Open the cover". Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do? Thanks--- Kim

did you solved you problem, how?

I didn't get the problem solved. I eventually called Canon and they decided that there was something wrong with the printer so they sent me a new one and had me return the old one. The new printer is working great. Thank you Canon!
