Hi imageguy,

First, let's perform a test of your printer.  To do this, please follow these steps:

1. Make sure that the power is turned on to your imagePROGRAF PRO-1000.

2. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the rear tray.

3. After inserting the paper into the machine, the paper information registration screen is displayed on the touch screen. Select A4 or Letter for Page size and Plain paper for Type, then tap Register. If a message is displayed on the screen, follow the directions in the message to complete registration.

4. Holding both sides of the paper output tray, gently open it.

5. Extend the paper output support..

6. Use the down arrow to select Maintenance and press OK.

7. Select Print nozzle check pattern and press OK.

8. Select Yes and press OK.

The nozzle check pattern will be printed

Please take a photo of the test page that printed and then please attach it to your reply of this post.

I have already run a nozzle check and the patterns look fine. If the printer is turned off for a day, I can restart and it will print the first print fine. The second print will have a single line. The next print will have two. I haven't wasted enough card stock to see if they go beyond three. Thanks.

The problem still exists. If I turn off the printer for a day, return in the morning, it will print 4 or 5 cards fine in a row. Then it will resume printing the magenta marks. They are random in number. Usually 1 to 4 lines.Usually near the top or bottom edge. Nozzle check is fine. I have remade the file so it's not a file issue. It will do this if I print a different file.

The patterns have gotten worse, larger and more numerous. Printing on everything now. Different image file, different format. Doesn't matter.   IMG_3146 copy.jpg
