When printing black and white images, does checking the box "Print Black and White" actually make a difference? What does this setting do?

Thanks for your help.

Hi nwarmour,

What operating system are you printing from; Windows or Mac?

What application are you using to print your b&w images?

Theoretically, if you choose "Print Black & White", only black ink would be used. If you choose "Print in color", all the colors would be used to make all the shades of gray.  You can test this by printing the same B&W image both ways and seeing how they look. View them also with a magnifier and see if there are color pixels in both.

Thanks for your suggestions. It’s possible to select B&W in two different places: 1) In Canon printing software; and 2) In the drop down menu which appears after hitting “Print” in the Canon software. Should I select B&W in both or just the Canon software? Thanks.

Try everything, to see what the effect is.

Appreciate your suggestions.
