When I send a job to the printer - a 4x6 print - the printer makes noises for two minutes before the photo paper actually begins to move through the printer. My previous printer from another company would start printing and moving the paper through right away. The printer is connected to my computer via a USB cable.
Is it normal to take so long for a simple 4x6 photo printout? I had also just replaced three ink cartridges so it isn't a matter of the printer agitating the ink after not being used for awhile. As it is I don't print that often yet the ink levels go down relatively quickly.

Does this happen every time or just the first print after printer has been idle for a few days or more?
If its just the first startup after being idle the printer is going through a cleaning process to be sure there is no head clogging.

I thought in the past it was doing it with every print but after I posted last night (of course) a second print came out faster, as expected. So that might be it, but I'll watch more closely in the future to be certain.
Thank you for your reply.
