Several weeks ago, I received a notice on my printer that a firmware update was available. This printer is connected to wifi. Each time I try to proceed with the update, I receive the following message: "Cannot connect to server. Please wait a while and try again." This has been occurring for the past several weeks.

You could go to the Canon support site and download an update file.
