Hello. I just installed Print Studio Pro. I want to print to my Pixma Pro 100 from Digital Photo Professional 4 using paper Canon Pro Luster. I have read that a photo must be sharpened, prior to be printed, base on paper type, size of photo, expected viewing distance, etc. Does Print Studio Pro perform an internal sharpening process base of paper type and photo size? Or I have to manually perform the sharpening process? If I have to manually perform the sharpening, where can I read about some guidelines for the sharpening values? Your comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

You are correct about sharpening. It is generally accepted that there are three steps of sharpening in digital photography.
1. Capture Sharpening is used to overcome the loss of sharpness caused by the anti-aliasing filter in most cameras
2. Creative Sharpening where regions of the image may be sharpened or softened for effect.
3. Output Sharpening where the final image is tuned for the intended use - print or digital on-screen.
Since you are using DPP the Canon Picture Styles will pretty much handle capture sharpening and global creative sharpening- Landscape Style has increased sharpening and Portrait Style decreased sharpening.
Everything you listed is involved in output sharpening.
PSP does not apply, or have the capability, for output sharpening.
From my experience and various tests I have performed the direct output from the Pro-100 is fine without pursuing any special output sharpening process.
If you want to experiment the free Google Nik software has an output sharpening module where you can input various parameters for a specific print.

Thank you for your comments. I will edit a few photos in Picture Style and print the photos to check how they come out. Also, I will download and install NIK software. Thanks again.
