PRO 200-S ink replacement issues, ink carriage does not move

GregMac

Hi.

Iv recently purchased the above printer and I've been very happy with the print results. Howver, I now need to to replace some ink cartridges, but the ink carriage does not move into place when I open the top lid. All other functions seem OK including maintenance tasks like head alignment which involve carriage movement. I've looked at  YouTube videos, but there is no mention of special instructions, just lift the lid and the carraige will centre.

I suspect there may be a hardware issue with the lid limit switch, but would appreciate any advice.

If the ink carriage in your Pro 200-S printer is not moving to the center for cartridge replacement, try unplugging the printer, waiting a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, you may need to manually rotate the gear on the left side of the printer to release the carriage.

Thanks Derrick. I did try turning it on and off, but this did not help.

I did find a solution purely by accident. I thought that if I could turn the power off during a print, it may leave the carrige isolated. With the cover open, I put my hand on the top of the printer to leave over to pull the power cord, the carriage moved to the centre. This happened reliably and suggests that it was a hardware issue with a switch alignment that corrected itself when I applied very light pressure to the left corner of the top cover.

This may help others if they have similar issues.

I am not making a warrantee claim as I need the printer and can live with the fault.

Thanks very much for your interest.
