PIXMA PRO-200 How to speed up printing

Jordyn24

I print few photos, but more documents on thick cardstock. Is there a way to speed up the printing for Pro-200 when doing documents on 100lb cover?

Hi Jordyn! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that you would like your PIXMA PRO-200 to speed up when printing documents on 100lb cover.

It may not be possible to speed up the printing. The print speed is determined by not just the size of paper, but also the type of paper and the print quality. If you try to speed up the printing, you may be sacrificing the print quality.

Not all paper types will allow you to change the Print Quality to Fast or Draft. However, if you are using a paper type that allows you to choose Fast or Draft, it would speed up the printing. The side affect would be that less ink is used, so your documents or images may not look as sharp as you want.

Some paper types will speed up the printing. For example, it doesn’t take as long to print on plain paper in relation to other papers. If you choose a different paper that allows for faster printing or one that allows you to change the Print Quality to Fast or Draft, you may be able to speed up the printing, but the print quality won’t be the same.

You can check the printer’s settings to see if it is printing in Quiet mode. If the Quiet setting is turned on, then printing will take longer. Turning off the Quiet setting will speed it back up. For information about the printer’s Quiet Mode setting, please visit the following section of the printer’s manual:

Print speed can be affected by communication. If your printer is connected through your Wireless network and that network is being used by other devices, printing may be slow. The strength and quality of the router’s signal can also slow down the communication and the print speed (if it is weak). Therefore, printing through a Wi-Fi connection can be slower than printing over a USB connection or a Wired LAN connection (using an Ethernet cable to connect the printer directly to the router).

Should you continue to need help, please write back with answers to the following questions:

  • What type and size of paper are you trying to print on?
  • Before printing, are you able to select the paper size and type settings on your computer?
  • Can you adjust the Print Quality setting?
  • What operating system is your computer running?

I hope this information helps. Thanks again.
