PIXMA PRO 100 - Replaced cartridges with brand new canon ink carts and the pictures are horrible...

I have a canon pro 100 that needed a couple of ink cartridges, so I bought a whole new set of carts from Amazon. The pictures I include here show the problem. The top image is with the old carts. The bottom image is with the brand new Canon carts.

What causes this! The paper and the picture are exactly the same.

1. were they Canon OEM cartridges or third party?

2. if you run a nozzle check what does it look like?
