PIXMA PRO-100 Horizontal Stripes

I recently noticed that the prints coming out of the Canon have very faint lines across them. I think it has been happening for a while, just that they are not very noticeable. I went back to some prints I had done earlier and saw the same thing.

I have tried pretty much everything:

  • Made sure I used the correct ICC profile and print settings. I am using Red River paper.

  • I tried different print programs to make sure it isn’t the software (Lightroom, On1 Photo Raw, Faststone Image Viewer)

  • I performed several head cleaning and deep cleaning

  • I performed a couple of print head alignment

  • I even soaked the print head in a cleaning solution (thinking it might be clogged)

After trying everything I can think of, those lines still appear (see the attached images), and they seem to be present in every different image I printed. I am guessing this is NOT normal. Depending on the image (and the colors), sometimes it is very hard to see them, but it appears they are there.

Question is - is the printhead defective or is it something else?

Hi benlwong,

The test page that you printed from your PRO-100 did not print correctly,  Because performing multiple printhead cleanings did not get the test page to print correctly, your PIXMA PRO-100 would require service.

If your PIXMA PRO-100 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

Once logged in, click on your PIXMA PRO-100 and then click on the Product Support button.  When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support.

If your PIXMA PRO-100 is out of warranty, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Hi benlwong,

First, please load plain paper into your PIXMA PRO-100 and print a nozzle check.

Please press and hold the RESUME button until the power light blinks white twice, then let go of the button.

The RESUME button is the middle button on your PIXMA PRO-100.

Please compare your printout with the example below.  Make sure there are no lines present.  If you like, please take a photo of your nozzle check and post it to your reply of this post.

Next, please print an image using Canon paper using Easy-PhotoPrint Editor.  If you do not have this program installed, you may download it for free from the link below:

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for responding. I have done many nozzle checks. Below is one I just ran. I did notice GY has some faint lines, but I have run several cleaning and a couple of deep cleanings with no improvement. As I said in my initial post, I also tried print head alignment as well.

I also printed the same image using Easy-PhotoPrint Editor program as you suggested. I got the same result with faint lines across it (as you can see in the attached image).
