I've been working with Canon on this issue for awhile but just received a new printhead yesterday and since they're closed for the holiday, thought I'd try here.
First, I've had an A+ customer service experience at Canon, so kudos to them.
Here's the short version of my issue:
Chroma Optimizer continuously empties out onto prints or on printer startup. I mean EMPTY. Dripping wet prints.
After lots of troubleshooting Canon sent a new print head that I'm trying to install. Unfortunately, the printer head carrier doesn't return to the center position for replacement.
•printer is on
•tried unplugging AND restarting
•tried disconnecting from laptop and restarting etc.
•tried to move carrier when printer was powered down
•Firmware and drivers are current
Any thoughts? I'm out of ideas and have scoured the net to no avail. Thanks!

What if you start printing and opened cover while printing is in process?
That might let you replace the head, but you will still need to resolve why the head won't move as designed.

Just to follow up on this post if anyone else experiences something similar:
Again Canon went above and beyond to help me get this fixed. After nothing else worked, the CSR and I decided to unplug the printer when the head was disengaged (during warm up, after restart) and move it manually. It worked and the new print head did fix the issue.
