Out-of-the-box PRO-1000 tracks/smudges

I just started using my PRO-1000 and just a few prints in I'm getting terrible tracking/smudging in bands across the entire print. This is my first Canon printer and I have know idea what could be causing this.

I can't help with a solution, other than to recommend that you return it for a different one.
