PSP's function is to simplify printing from LR or PS by setting all the correct "switches". It doesn't do anything you can't do if you know the right choices to make.
If 1.4 is working for you there's no advantage in updating. All you need to do is read the update notes. If they don't apply to your situation then you won't see any difference.
