I’m surprised to find that almost all the current Canon PRO-1000 paper ICC profiles still only use the old version 2 ICC profiles.
The version 2 ICC profile standard was released in 1990s and the version 4 ICC profile standard was released in 2005. Version 4 has been the current standard for almost two decades with new tags like PRMG for improved gamut mapping.
I know Canon is a hardware company but it seems that high quality product data for color managers e.g. ColorSync using current standards should be just as important. My display profiling software has long produced version 4 ICC profiles and ICC recommends not mixing ICC profile versions. So it seems Canon should provide version 4 ICC profiles for their papers.
