PRO-2100 Carriage is dirty and smearing ink at the edges

seabee63

Hello. The ink evacuation area on the far right of the platen became clogged and transferred ink to the underside of the printhead carriage and likely printhead, and is smearing ink on the right edge of the paper.

How best to clean the underside of the carriage and printhead?

Cleaning the platen is a user thing, no need to call Canon. Just mild soap and water is all that is needed and many paper towels. Just remember to wear gloves and dry things before printing. If needed, rubbing alcohol can be used if there are stubborn parts. No need to soak things just dampen the cloths.

Had already done what Lithoman suggested – thanks! I find Windex on soft thin shop towels works the best at removing inks from plastics.

Windex is a good alternative. Careful though as prolonged ammonia contact with plastic can cause it to become brittle. Great suggestion nonetheless.
